International flight to Domestic Connection in Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson
 

Flying from Madrid on Delta and need to make a domestic connection in a little under 2 hours...

After looking at the Hartsfield-Jackson website, I'm under the impression that after arrival I will go through immigration, go to baggage claim go through customs then recheck my bags. Then continue and take the Plane Train, or shuttle a whole 15 minutes back to the domestic terminal and proceed to go all the way through domestic security to get on my connecting flight.

Is this all true? Is there no other (possibly faster) way to get to my connecting gate/flight without having to go all the way to the domestic terminal? Thanks

This is true. But after you claim your baggage there is a place close by where they take them for recheck. You don't have to stand in any line there just drop the bag off and in my experience employees keep up a steady pace grabbing bags and putting them on a belt to your final destination.
The train is really quick , and runs constantly, maybe 2 minutes between trains. Takes maybe 5 minutes to get to domestic terminal but seems a lot longer when you are in a hurry.
I have made it in 2 hours so I think you should be able to.

Just to confirm you assumption is correct and there really isn't a faster way. Martha info is accurate. If you have Global Entry your processing at immigration would be much faster.

You do NOT have to go all the way to the domestic terminal. After Customs you will recheck your bags (cannot miss it, you are directed there) and then go through security. Once out of security you go directly to your gate which can be in the same concourse you are already in (in which case you simply go upstairs) or in another concourse. If the latter you can take the fast plane train or, if you prefer, you can walk (about 2 minutes from one concourse to the next).

It Atlanta everything is in a single line. At one end is the domestic terminal and at the other is the international terminal. The only time one needs to go through either terminal is if one is originating or terminating in Atlanta. Stretched out between them are the concourses, which are named (from the domestic side) T, A, B, C, D, E and F.

International flights which require immigration formalities arrive at E and F but can depart from any of the terminals. All other flights can arrive and depart from any of the seven concourses.

I have a flight from Cabo to Atlanta to Miami. I no longer need to fly to Miami and need to stay in Atlanta longer. Instead of rechecking my bag do you know if there is a way to get my bags and just leave. Trying to avoid the hassle of changing flights and paying change fees.

Is this the end of your trip, or is it the beginning of a round trip starting in Mexico or the beginning of a multi-city itinerary? If this is the very end of the trip -- after immigration collect your checked bags and just walk out. No problem. Don't tell the airline. HOWEVER - if you do have additional flights on the same booking and you skip the Miami leg, all subsequent flights will automatically be cancelled.
