international airfare consolidators
Help, plese!!!!!I'm taking a 17-day trip to Rome, Italy in Sept. from Philadelphia Int'l Airport. I'm trying to find a reputable international airfare consolidator with the lowest prices. There's so many out there & some of the message boards I've read on travel web sites indicate that some of the ones I've researched are scams. The ones offering lowest fares are sometimes just teasers because the flights are supposed sold out.

Airlines are selling fewer and fewer tickets through consolidators, especially for European travel on US-based airlines. Most often, the fare you get is no lower than directly from the airline.
The only one reputable place where people still seem to get good price is www.1800flyeurope.com. Try it and see if they have anything cheap. |
Thanks for the tip. I tried them & the best they could do was $1012 per person. All of their discounted flights were sold out. I went through 6 pages of flights before I got a hit on availability.
I booked through airfare.now.com & they gave me a good price $700 per person, including all fees & taxes. I did an online chat with a representative so I could have all my questions answered and then spoke with him by phone. I booked online & received a confirmation. Has anyone ever used them before? No e-tickets available but they're being sent by 3-day Fedex. I also got a quote from bdn for $673 per person w/ taxes & fees included but I could never reach anyone on their phone. Either the line was busy or it puts you in a voice mailbox. When I asked for the full itinerary, they e-mail me back & tell me to call. I was a little suspicious. I'm just glad it's booked. I pray to God it's not a scam! |
Actually, from 9/11 for about $650 on Mon/Thursday; about $30 more other days. Seems to be bookable on Orbitz. Alitalia for the trans-Atlantic leg, and a connection in Newark (CO) or JFK (DL).

I know, I wish I could have done it, but my departure date isn't flexible. We booked a tour that begins on 9/8/06. After 9/11, everyone's rates seem to plummet! I wish I would have known that before I booked a tour because I'd have chosen the following week instead.
For my dates of travel, Orbitz & Alitalia ranged about $950 - $1100. |
