Instant Cold Compress and TSA
I'm wanting to take an Instant Cold Compress in my carry-on through TSA security check. I have checked the TSA web site for allowable and unallowable items, but still not sure if this will be okay in the carry-on bag. Also, checked Fodors and a couple of other travel sites with no luck. Hubby has tendinitis and the cold compress helps. Anyone gotten this through security? Or have input? Thanks! As a last resort, I could take along a zip-lock and ask for ice somewhere, but I'd have to also take a small towel.
Thanks much!

It is gel-filled - right?
If so, then has to be 3 oz max and fit in your quart ziplok. I did a quick google for 'Cold gel packs for travel' and there were LOTS of possibilities.
As long as it/they are in in your liquids baggie they would be absolutely fine.

Yes, they are allowed, and they do have to be in the zip bag if you carry them on. (And this is despite the fact that the FAA considers these hazardous materials.) FYI: https://www.faa.gov/about/initiative...nfo/?hazmat=65

I've done this several times and the answer is it depends...
I've had them confiscated because they were not labelled with amount (3 oz or less).
I had one taken away because it was not frozen enough and on 2 occasions I've been allowed to continue with them.
So good luck! I think it entirely depends on the TSA agent you get on the day!
