Info about Orbitz
 

Does anyone have any good or bad comments about Orbitz? They would save me $100 each on a domestic flight. Need answer now.

I've used Orbitz a number of times. They're fine, no problems. They are owned by the major airlines. I don't want to confuse you but you might look at Hotwire.com. The airlines also own them.

I have also used orbitz and gotten great prices and have been very pleased with the whole process

Go for it Dude! No problems here either. just be sure to recap you schedule before pushing the "enter" button. And only press the enter button once.

you can even change non-refundable itinerary for a fee I did not think this was possible except through airlines directly

Looky, you and a number of others are doing a excellent job of bashing travel agents on your own. By the way it is site, as in location. <BR><BR>Novice, I don't about saving $100 each on tickets. But when I use Orbitz i also check the website of the airlines with tthe lowest fares to see what other deals are available that wouldn't be shown on Orbitz.

Southwest, the most efficient airline in the world, now sells 50% of its tickets on its website. They say that they can sell a ticket for a buck on their site and they want to drive as much business there as possible. Why because it cost $7 to $8 to sell a ticket through an agent. Just a few years ago, Southwest didn't even have a website now its at 50%, that should give agents pause.<BR><BR>How do I know that Southwest is the most efficient airline in the world? Well the capitalized market value of Southwest is greater than all the six major airlines combined.

Always here great things about Southwest but they don't fly out of the NYC area

Novice hope you have not booked you can shave about 100 off flight or at least on my dates I could, if you travel into Oakland airport just 15 minutes from SFO airport

No I was talking about American Airlines also I would not risk a mishap with a budget airline if I had to be in a meeting

That's nice. AA is definitely the most comfortable in coach, unless you are a very frequent flyer or pay full coach on UA. BTW, if you are not one of the annointed on UA, you'll have one of the most miserable experiences imaginable. Their legroom is about the same as those cheap charters.

sss how would I get out to islip? Sorry I am Manhattan impaired don't know much of the surrounding boroughs or counties.

Getting to Islip from Manhattan is one royal pain in the ass. <BR><BR>You can either take the Hampton Jitney or the LIRR. After one and a half hours, you then have to take a cab to the airport. Door to airport, it's a two and a half hour trip.<BR><BR>Granted, MacArthur is less congested and Southwest is cheaper, but from this Manhattannite's point of view, it's just not worth the trouble unless you're saving say, at least $200.<BR><BR>I'd rather pay a little more airfare and fly out of LGA, EWR or JFK. It's about an hour, door to airport if traffic is normal.<BR><BR>Now if there reliable, reasonably priced, door to airport service from Manhattan to Islip existed...

I say go for it I used them to book a trip to mardi gras and I loved their service. The flight was normal.
