immigration and customs

This is something I never even thought of. I will be flying back from Mexico via Dallas/Ft Worth. The first AA agent I spoke too told me I don`t change planes in Dallas and will fly to Reno for customs/immigration. The 2nd agent said no, I have to get off the plane and do customs and immigration in Dallas, because the Reno airport doesn`t even have that. I was surprised, but don`t recall ever seeing anything like that in Reno. Guess none of the smaller airports have customs/immigration. Never even thought of that in all my years flying in and out of the Reno International airport. So much for being an international airport!

You always clear immigration and customs at airport of 1st arrival. Meaning you clear everything at DFW. You will also reclear security before getting back to your gate for your connection to RNO, which is just a simple domestic flight.

I was told since I wouldn`t be getting off the plane in Dallas, that Reno would be my first stop. That person didn`t know what she was talking about though.

Exactly. You'll definitely be getting off at DFW.

If you have checked luggage, don't forget to claim it in DFW before you go thru customs.

Once you're thru, don't forget to re-check your checked luggage right outside of customs.

Don't bring alcohol in your carry on bag back to the States. I heard TSA agents get so much alcohol, their now on a liquid diet.

You can bring alcohol back to the US. They just need to go into your checked luggage before you recheck it with the airlines for your connecting flights.

People lose their stash because they don't understand the procedure.
