If United Bankrupts While on Vacation....
 

My hubby & I leave Friday for New Zealand & Australia, on United Airlines. If they go Bankrupt while we are gone.. are they obligated to help us get back to the States? <BR><BR> <BR><BR>

NO!!!!!<BR>But, they will not go under anytime soon.

I wouldn't worry about it. Even if United declares bankruptcy, I seriously doubt they would cease service the same day. You can operate for years under bankruptcy protection. Some of the smaller airlines sometimes shut down completely with little or no warning, but I wouldn't worry about it happening with United.<BR><BR>Of course, if you are REALLY worried about it, you can always give me your tickets and I would be happy to go to Oz and NZ on your behalf. ;-)

The gov't won't the United go under. They're the 2nd largest airline in the U.S.

Thanks everyone for some reassurance. I hope you are all right, but I wonder what funny business is going on behind the scenes that will come out later.<BR><BR>Oh well..I won't worry about it and I'll roll with the punches!
