How to get to JFK from Connecticut without driving

How would you recommend getting to JFK airport without driving in? We are leaving from Fairfield, CT. We are two adults and two children, ages 3 and 6.

Also considering a park and fly hotel, but we will be gone 15 and most have 7 or 14 day minimums. Any ideas about this?

Thanks!

Train to Grand Central then Airport bus (not sure the name) is one way...

but what is your objection to driving?

I don't have an objection, I was just wondering how people do it without driving. I've never flown out of JFK so I'm not familiar with how it's done. If we do drive, do you have any parking lot suggestions?

Thanks!

Why not rent a car and drop it at JFK? We usually find this cheaper than either a car service or off site parking.

agree with mystic. rent a car, or a car service might be worth it. trains or bus can take you well over 3.5 hours.

There are shared shuttle services from Connecticut. One such company is called Connecticut Limo, but I have no experience with the company since I don't live in CT.

You can definitely take the train to Grand Central and then an airport bus. All buses now stop on 41st Street between Park and Lex. If you use Metro North, this could be your cheapest option. The train takes about an hour and 15 minutes, then the airport bus takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on traffic. They leave about every 20 to 30 minutes depending on the time.

Whatever you do, please do not use Connecticut Limo. Look up reviews for their service. Not very many good reviews lately. Do your homework on car services.

From the hudson valley, I've always just driven and parked at the long term parking lot then taken the air train. The cost is $18/day. You can also park at a private lot such as The Parking Spot. Their rate is $17 per day but you can find coupons online.

The cost adds up - I've just considered part of the cost of travel and moved on.

When you use a hotel's park and fly rate, there is often a (reasonable) charge to leave your car for longer than their "maximum"--which is what I assume you meant, rather than minimum.
We've also had the experience of them giving us the additional few days at no charge when we're members of their affinity program--which cost nothing to join.

Hi all,

Thanks again for all your help. We decided to rent a car to JFK and get picked up by a friend when we return.

Thought I'd share this inexpensive, highly rated parking lot I found in my research:
