How strict is Aer Lingus carry on policy?
They list the carry on limits as:
Max weight 10kg (22lb) Max size 55cm H (21.5") x 40cm W (15.5") x 24cm D (9.5") Plus one small personal item: Small handbag, laptop, duty free or baby changing bag. Max size 25cm H (10”) x 33cm W (13”) x20cm D(8”) My roll about fits the size limit but it is usually about 32 pounds and not 22 pounds. My personal item is a back pack about 19 - 20 inches tall. Will my carryons get by or is Aer Lingus pretty strict? I'm flying out of Boston to Dublin. Thanks |
Have you considered just going by their rules?

Any help on this question?

Looks like both items are considerably over their limits. Will depend on how strict the GA decides to be and that may also be based on load, too. If it were me I could be prepared to have one or the other gate checked.

yes - >>Have you considered just going by their rules?<< That's what I'd say too . . . What does it MATTER what we tell you since you are 100% at the mercy of the Aer Lingus check in agent. And even IF s/he misses it you are then at the mercy of the gate agents. Stick to the allowed sizes. But for what it is worth, your "personal item" is not "personal item- sized" - it is another full carry-on so I'd think it is very unlikely you could take both |
i agree with janis in that there is no way of knowing what will happen at the gate upon check in. Maybe they will let you slide, maybe not. If you want to just roll the dice and take your chances but know you can lose.

Yes they are pretty strict. Last time I flew with them they were checking hand baggage sizes . I would say you will definitely have a problem with your checked baggage if it's 32lb vs their limit if 22lb.

US airlines are way more lenient than foreign carriers on size, weight and numbers!
