How often do you throw in a spare day up front on a trip?

Yeah, Suze. I agree. And, I finally got it. Pulley corrected me and with my next post I agreed. Sorry.
Sorta shows a problem with forum postings/replys, many times a reply is not clear as to whether it is responding to the post directly above it or back to the OP. This is a learning opportunity . When replying I try to make it clear which posting I'm replying to. Like I mention your name at the beginning of this reply. And as you mentioned mine with your last post.
Merry Christmas All.
regards - tom

Ovenbird, I'm with you. Four or five hour layovers are my preference.
I found out if I don't arrive in Brazil in time to make my internal connection from Sao Paulo to Campo Grande, there is another domestic flight later that day and the lodge shuttle van transports for that second flight too. Since I have two shots at the shuttle van, I won't go a day early.
Thanks and we'll have to swap our Brazil tales, Ovenbird!

My original thoughts on this question are like Cynthia's above. I love the luxury of having a day off from work, but being at home, at both the beginning and end of a major trip.
But sometimes in my excitment to grab all I can... I just as often fly in at midnight and go back to work the next morning!
