How much time is needed at LAX to connect from Air Pacific to Delta

My flight gets into LAX at 1:20 p.m. Should I book the 2:45 p.m. flight or wait around until 9:00 p.m. for an overnight flight? There isn't many flights between 2:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Thanks

Air Pacific comes into TBIT. It's not the busiest time of the day for TBIT, but you still have a China Airlines 744 arriving from TPE at 1:25p, Malaysia Airlines from KUL/TPE at 12:55p, Singapore 744 from SIN/NRT at 12:50p, LTU 332 from DUS at 1:25, etc that can affect how fast you get through immigration.

Also a Mexicana 320 from MEX arriving at 1:05p, and Maxjet from STN at 1:00p, though those carry fewer passengers.

And you need to shuttle or walk from TBIT to Terminal 5, but that isn't that bad.

I think it will be tight, but possible.

Oh man, anything involving arrival at TBIT and a tote-your-bags connection to another terminal needs more time than that IMO. What if Air Pathetic is late (which is certainly not a rare occurrence in my limited experience with the airline?)

Thanks, rkkwan. I really don't want to spend the afternoon and evening in the airport (unless I get a lounge pass).

Oh, are you booking the flights separately? Definitely DO NOT book the 2:45p on DL if on separate tickets.

There are things you can do, and places you can go, and food you can eat, near LAX...

Thanks, Gardyloo. I'm considering driving down to San Diego or out to Palm Springs for a day or two. I've never been there.

You guys are making me more confused.

Yes, separate tickets. I booked the Air Pacific flight LAST December.
