I flew with Aer Lingus from New York to Shannon on March 17th, 2000, St. Patrick's Day.

I like to sit in the Exit Row due to my height. At check in, when I asked to switch, they said they had no exit row seats available. At the Gate, they said they had no exit row seats available.

So we board the plane, and I ask for the chief purser. I said, if the exit row seats become no-shows, I'd like to switch into those seats. Well it turned out that of the four exit row seats - they were ALL available!!

I ended up with both seats on the left side of the plane. But be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

On this Aer Lingus flight - about six hours and change...the configuration of the plane was such that ample space in front of me - became a waiting area for the bathrooms, so there were alsways people in front of me, chatting noisily, and there was the sound of the flushing - !!

Aside from that, the service was good, the food OKAY, the flight took off and landed on time, and my luggage arrived with me.
