Here are a few more question . . .

OK, I hope these questions won't piss anyone off.

(1) What is the most expensive airline ticket you have ever seen? I saw one today for $24,000!

(2) How do you tell a 767 from a 777 on the taxiway? I go by 3 sets of wheels on the 777 and 2 sets of wheels (each side) on the 767.

Your information is always appreciated.

1. Just for the fun of it, I searched JFK-LHR on CX, going the long way through HKG in F. $25,129.

2. The 777 is significantly larger than the 767, but yes, the wheel configuration is one-way to distinguish the two. The other is the tail-cone. The 777 has a flat (vertical) cone, while the 767's is round.

BTW, I think that CX's fare is a bad deal. For example, Emirates' JFK-DXB-MEL-AKL and back, all on its A345 (which has probably the most luxurious seat/bed on any commercial airline) is only about $13,000.

Same thing with Singapore Air's JFK-Australia, all in F. <$15,000.

SQ's JFK-FRA-SIN-HKG-SFO and back is $17K in F. Wally - you should fly this way across between New York and San Fran.

If they serve free booze, Wally will accept this route. And the price!! :-))

I saw one today for $26,163.04. First Class Flexible on British Airways; Miami to Sydney.

I booked the economy ticket today on the same flight. Leaving on Dec. 15 and returning on January 1, Miami to Sydney in Economy; $2118.04. Drinks Included! Both flights go through London. I will pretend as I sit in economy that I was upgraded to first.

Since other airlines won't book farther out than 330 days, you're gambling that AA's or Qantas' or Air Pacific's $1550 round trips for the week prior will be increased to match BA's. They seldom have, so those drinks might be worth five hundred bucks or so.

I realized I took a chance but last year the price really shot up. My dates are locked in. That ticket was going for over $8,000 by September. United raised their price so much, when I was in Australia, I noticed that the only people who "worked" for United flew over on the plane.

American had their prices so high for these dates (code share with Qantas) that the price never really went up. I purchased the ticket on www.ba.com. I will check in two weeks to see what the best price will be on www.itasoftware.com.
