Help using onepass miles

I want to book a multi-destination trip (Cleve - Japan - Hawaii - Cleve), using OnePass miles for Business Class. Not having great luck with Continental website or via phone. Any suggestions on how to do this and what is best way to find best deals when using miles... never used miles before.

Onepass awards currently doesn't support this type of itinerary, which is 3 legs among 3 different region. They need to be roundtrip to/from same region (open jaw allowed within same region).

You may want to try calling again, sometimes a different agent can find a way to do things with creative routing (partner airline, etc). Do you hold elite status with CO? If so, call the elite desk. But as rkkwan notes, you are asking for a ticket that combines series 3 and series 4 awards, which is usually not permitted. You may also want to post on flyertalk.

Thanks! Is it possible to book the flights and use miles to upgrade to first class? I am going to try to call back when I get a chance. I spent about 45 min on hold with 3 different people last time... try for better luck.

Yes. Upgrade reward charts are here. http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...s/default.aspx

US-Japan flight is Series 4 upgrade; but there is a co-pay to upgrade to BusinessFirst except for full-fare. Also read the first chart here:

Continental doesn't operate direct flights between Japan and Hawaii. Only via Guam or you fly Northwest Airlines. Click the above link for Series 3 upgrades. GUM-HNL is BusinessFirst service so, co-pay required. [Unless you take the 5-stop "island hopper".] Upgrades on NW are possible with CO miles, but you may need to have a high fare class only; you need to call Onepass to find out.

From Hawaii back to the mainland, it's Series 2. The HNL-IAH or HNL-EWR flights have co-pay. The HNL-LAX flight will not have co-pay as it's switching to a 737-900ER with domestic first class and not BusinessFirst.
