Help - tips for fare to Fiji?
 

Have been pricing flights from ORD to NAN (Oct 08). Running about $1550 pp now for coach, AA & Quantas, connecting in LAX. Yikes. Any ideas out there for bringing it down a bit? I have an entertainment book coupon so that helps a bit and I've signed up for the fare alerts, etc., but thought I would ask the experts. thanks!

Check the www.airpacific.com website. AA and "Qantas" do not fly there. They will put you on an Air Pacific flight. I just booked a flight from LAX to Auckland during the Christmas holiday for $1,390.00. The plane changes in Fiji.

P.S. It will probably be much cheaper to purchase two separate tickets. Buy the ticket from LAX to Fiji soon and wait on the ORD to LAX ticket until later.

Thanks Wally. That is one option I have been checking. Although with separate tickets, we would have to claim our bags in LA and recheck to NAN? And if delayed, we're on our own to NAN if we miss our connection in LA, correct?

I gave myself an overnight in LA just in case. The return flight was delayed 18 hours in Fiji. Air Pacific put everyone up in a hotel. I gave myself another overnight in LA so everything worked out great.

American's prices can be high if booked too early.
