Hawaii on a 777?
We're contemplating flying from SFO to Honolulu, and one of the possible flights is on a 777. We've flown business class to Europe on a 777 but wonder what first class is like on the Hawaii hop.
Or, how about economy plus?

I'm assuming UA by the E+ reference...
UA uses a different configuration of 777 on its Hawaii routes. Basically, if you've ever flown domestic first on United on a 757, A320, etc., that's about what you get, and it pales in comparison to international business: 38" seat pitch vs. 55" pitch for international business. So, somewhat more legroom than economy, and a wider, more comfortable seat, but you won't have the same amount of recline or the nice footrests that the international planes do. You will get a 'real' meal and free drinks in first, as opposed to Buy-on-Board and paid drinks in econony - and IIRC, they were serving mai tais. No personal video. You can always hope that they have to substitute an international plane on that particular day
Economy Plus has 35" pitch; regular economy has 31" pitch. Otherwise, the seats and service are exactly the same the same throughout. The only difference is the extra 4". If you don't have elite status and are considering E+, check out United's brand new offer to buy a year's worth of E+ access for $299. If you fly UA at least a few times per year, that would be cheaper than the premium you would need to pay for an E+ eligible (Y, B, or M) fare.

I just gave my brother-in-law and his wife the miles they need in order to fly first class out to HNL. They do not fly a lot (in fact, very little) so I think they will enjoy the first class section of the plane anyway, even if it isn't like international level. Is there a site that shows the seat and its features on this UA777?

If you really want a true first/business class seat to Hawaii, only American's 767 services and Continental's flights have "real" international business.
Unfortunately, neither carrier flies from SFO to Honolulu with 767s.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already put seat guru in my favorites and always look there for good seats. What I really wanted was a photo of the seat, or the configuration or gimmics it has. I guess, from reading, that there is no pop-up TV.
I flew out to HNL two years ago, but don't recall if I upgraded to first class on that flight! I'll have to reread my travel journal from that trip, I guess. I always make notes about flights/seats/meals, etc.
Anyway, I appreciate your input.
