Has anyone used Air Tran Sat?
This is a Canadian airline. We could buy our airfare from Toronto to Rome for about $1000 Canadian dollars which is quite a bit cheaper than from Detroit (over $1300 right now). Just wondering how reliable they are etc since it is not a major airline, if something goes wrong we might not have a backup.

it's a charter airline so if something happens to your flight, there may not be another one for a while. Looks like they only fly there once a week? Did you factor in time/expense form detroit to toronto?

Took Air Transat last year to go from Montreal to Toulouse, France, and also going to cuba, have nothing wrong to say about them, flights were on time and service on board was great.

Thanks for into. With 3 of us going we would save about $1000 which would be more than the cost to get to Toronto. I do see that their schedule is not as regular as most airlines, but it does work for us.

it's not so much whether the schedule works, it's that if something does go wrong and a flight is severely delayed or cancelled, they will not have another plane to send for you.
I'd also price the Detroit-Toronto flights and make sure the short haul is not fabulously expensive. Checking random dates form now through June, cheapest fare PP was $450 I'm also guessing you will have to pick up your luggage in toronto and re check it to Rome so be sure to leave time for all that. |
