group check-in
I am travelling with a group of 22. I put all tickets on my credit card. At check in, can I just swipe my card at the kiosk and check in everyone? How does it work?
|
It works that way for my "group" of two or three, but I suspect the kiosk might melt down with a group like yours.
My suggestion would be to go directly to the agent and let them handle the group and the baggage. You could try to call the airline to check, but I suspect they would put your call to a call center, when what you really need is the counter agent at the airport. |
When I booked my tickets, the woman wasn't overly knowledgable. They are all e-tickets and she told me to check in at the kiosk but that everyone had to check in individually. But since everything is on my credit card and my address is the only one they have, I don't see how the kids I am with will be able to use the kiosk.
Since I am group travel, the regular reservation people won't talk to me. I will try calling group check-in again tomorrow. Or I may just call the airport. Thanks. |
When I checkin at a kiosk with AA I don't need to use my credit card. I can swipe AA card or just input my AA #. I suspect I could even enter my name. I don't have the cc used to purchase the ticket anyway, as it is usually purchased by my co. travel agency.
Perhaps it's different with other airlines. |
I don't know the specifics with your reseravtions or your airline, but in general, online check-in or kiosk check-in for domestic travel requires very little stuff. Usually, just the 6-digit "locator" and that's it. So, yes, you should be able to check-in for everybody online or at a kiosk.

A large group checked in at LHR which grew larger as people arrived and joining their friends at the head of the queue ensuring the rest of the queue got further and further away from checkin. When a supervisor spotted what was happening the whole group were moved away and checked in en-masse. Don't think online check-in would work for so many.

Try going to the airline website & look at the rules & reg for Kiosk check in. Somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind I seem to recall that groups can't do it. But I could be completely wrong on that.

I agree that you should check the airline's web site and/or talk with airline directly. The few times I've flown with a group (on CO, BA and LH) there was a special check-in desk for groups. Things went very smoothly.
