Gotta Love Southwest!
I've always been a big fan of Southwest; but today, they even gave me more to love. My hubby had a package to Chicago for this weekend costing about $600. Unfortunately, he is ill and in the hospital and won't be out until next week so no trip. Because I didn't buy insurance, I decided to call to see if anything could be done, but with the understanding that our money was more than likely lost. Well, no, they were wonderful and they only charged a $75 service fee - thank you Southwest!
Did you just change the dates, or did you cancel the whole trip and get your $525 back? If the latter, then that's pretty good...
Good for You! BUT, thats actually standard procedure for Southwest Airlines Vacations packages.Cancellations made between 45 and 2 days prior to scheduled travel, a $75 per person cancellation fee, plus any other "applicable" hotel or other supplier charges involved.IMHO, just one of the many reasons Southwest has had so much success---"Make It Simple"!!
had to cancel - hubby was going to speak at a conference this weekend, so we didn't need the package for another weekend - love, love, LOVE southwest! why don't other airlines catch a clue?
rf.....I follow events in Dallas on a regular basis.I cant wait to see this new "Fight for Wright" over the Wright Amendment....The bottom line is that all the other airlines, particularly AA, have been too busy all these years "remaining competetive"...What a copout!!
what a laugh! if they were truly attempting to "remain competitive" they would be doing the things Southwest (and jetblue, which I also love) have already been doing!
American Airlines caught up charging $100 for issuing a voucher. Don't worry, others will follow if not yet. Don't think one airline is doing something others don't.
Sorry about your husband, hope he's feeling better now. |
When my husband was in the hospital last year and I had to cancel three trips, AA refunded our tickets with no penalty and no fee. All I had to do was provide documentation from the hospital.
wow Dorothy, that was nice!
and Faina, thanks for the kind words - he's starting to get better. |

So glad that your husband is getting better. It is always upsetting when those we care about are ill. It is great when airlines prove that they really care about their passengers. |
