Going from Termonal B to D at DFW
 

How best to go? is it along walk or should we look for intra-Termonal shuttle or tram?

Depending on arrival/departure gates the walk between terminals could be anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.

Instead, take the SkyLink Tram. It's inside the secure area - trams run every 3 minutes and it will take only about 2 or 3 minutes to get between terminal B & D.

There's no way you can walk this. You have to take the train, which will not be a problem since it's fast and runs frequently. You may still have to walk a bit just to reach it, but you won't have any major issues, and if you do have issues in walking, get a ride on one of the intra-terminal trams.

Sorry, Doug but there is a walkway (inside the secure area) between Terminals D & B. It's clearly shown on this map: https://www.dfwairport.com/map/index.php

That aside, as I pointed out in the my original response it's easier to take the SkyLink.

B ---> D and D ---> B are almost always the transfers I do at DFW. If you are going from a low-numbered B gate to a high-numbered D gate (40 is the highest in D), it's a five-minute walk. Otherwise the Skylink is your best bet.

Allow me to rephrase: "There's no way I would walk this. I would take the train because it's faster and more efficient."

I realize this is irrelevant because all useful information has already been given, but I like to walk if time permits, to combat the effects of being scrunched into tiny seats for hours. I encourage anyone who can to do so as well.

Honestly, if you're traveling on AA, it's about as easy to walk it. AA only uses gates 1-10 or so in Terminal B. The walkway crosses over to D easily and directly. And Terminal D is the newest one with an open layout and better shops and restos so you may want to traverse it between the two flights.

Doug may be thinking of a longer transfer where you have to cross the highway. This isn't one of them.

DFW's terminals are laid out like this and the highway is the "--"

B and D are next to each other on the same side (west) of the airport. If you are not transferring on AA and will arrive at gates B24 or higher, then you should take the Skylink.

On the contrary, I actually did this transfer on foot the last time I traveled through DFW, which was in January. I will stand by my original statement.

AA uses the entire Terminal B, Russ. It used to be shared with some United flights at the higher numbered gates, but that's no longer the case. They're all American Eagle gates now.

Terminal B is undergoing extensive remodeling. The two ends of the terminal (high and low-numbered gates) are done. The center section is being done now. I thought the whole terminal used to be kind of dreary. It's much nicer now.
