Gluten-free meals on KLM

We are flying to Nice in December from San Antonio, Texas, via Memphis and Amsterdam. We have already ordered gluten-free meals for our 4-year-old celiac daughter. I am curious what is served in the GF meals. Will it be food items that will appeal to a preschooler? I plan on bringing snacks for her but am wondering if I should plan to take something more substantial. Thanks.

You should call Northwest. They are the ones flying the Memphis-Amsterdam flights. They should be able to give you some information.

Regardless of what the airline tells you, be prepared with enough safe food for 24 hours in your carry-on. You never know what might occur (catering doesn't get the message, long flight delay, the only gluten-free meal aboard is tossed about in surprise turbulence).

I would have ALL your own food for her. Then if the meal turns out to be OK, that's just an extra perk. But I would never count on an airline in that situation, regardless of what they tell you.

Hello Isremington, as someone that has some allergy issues I too would pack enough food that will keep your daughter content for the duration of the flight and some extra in case there are flight delays. Airlines cannot be counted on to supply a special meal, I have learned that the hard way.
