Gifting AA miles

I'm looking into gifting miles from my husband's AA account into my AA account. But when I look on the AA web site about how to do that, it seems to imply that gifting miles costs money, the same amount as buying miles. Is that true? Or am I reading it wrong? (I hope!)

Not as much as buying miles (usually around 1 cent per mile vs. 2.5c) but it's far from a great deal.

On a more careful reading, I see I should have looked at "sharing" miles, not "gifting"'. That costs too, but not as much as buying. Thanks, Gardyloo.

Also, consider why you want to "share" miles. If it is to combine two smaller amounts of miles into a total larger amount so you can get one ticket that may make sense. But your husband can use miles in his account to get you a ticket if he has enough in his account. You con't have to "share" the miles to your own account first.

Right, Laurie Ann, what we want to do is combine miles into one account in order to get one ticket.

You cant combine into one account, but you can transfer miles from one account to another if you have enough miles. There is a fee.
