French Air Traffic Controllers Strike

I just read that there has been a call for French air traffic controllers to strike from June 24 to June 29, 2014. Apparently it isn't yet a "done deal" but there's a good chance it will happen. Since I'm booked on a flight into France during this time period, I have booked extra days in London - just in case this strike does happen. If you will be flying into or out of France during this time period, you might want to keep an eye on developments.

I got caught up in the French air traffic controller's strike in June 2013. It was a PIA, good luck to anyone flying during that time frame.

If you are in London, why not just take the train anyway from there? Of course they've been having some rail strike, otherwise I would have said just fly into some other place (like London or Amsterdam) and take the train, but maybe that doesn't affect the Eurostar from London, anyway. Of course, people can't usually change their air tickets at the last minute without penalty. Here's the union's website if you want to check on the latest

They did postpone their last planned strike, though, which was last January. Which may mean this one will go on, who knows.

Christina, Thanks for your suggestions. We have a couple of contingency plans including having booked extra days in London. If the strike is still going on we also will look at flights from London into Spain, possibly Bilbao, with the intention of renting a car there and driving into France where we have reservations. Meanwhile, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the strike will be called off.

In case anyone needs to know, the French air controllers strike has been cancelled after a 2-day strike.
