Food on AS flights in F
 

I just purchased LAX-SEA in F and noticed that the schedule indicates nothing for meal service (not even a snack) on my flight which seems to contradict this page http://www.alaskaair.com/as/www2/hel...ealService.asp that mentions a salad or hot sandwich on flights of 2.5-3 hours. Anyway, just wondering if anyone with recent experience can tell me whether there's really no meal service at all. Thanks!

Depends on time of day. AS have gotten stingy on FC meals outside of "normal" meal times.

If it's a paid ticket, go up to the Board Room (upstairs in T3) before the flight and load up on free beer, chips, cheese, "crudites" and cookies. Better than the melted goo sandwich you'd get on the plane, anyway.

Patty, I haven't flown AS regularly for about a year, but did pretty much weekly at that time. As Gardyloo said, even if they do serve a meal in FC, it's definitely nothing to write home about. Think coach/economy food of the late 80's/early 90's. BLECK!!! Sometimes they do actually still serve warm nuts, rather than just throwing a little bag of almonds at you. ;-) But that might have changed as well.

Thanks for reminding me, too, that I still have a bunch of miles in my AS account. hmmmmmm....where to go? Guess that can be my trip to Bots in 2009. :-D

I believe that's a yes. I was never really into the Board Room. I bought a membership one year and rarely used it, so didn't buy it again.

My FC seat on AS was always a comp u/g for MVP gold, so don't know, for sure, how it works with the purchased tix. But I would think you can take your companion traveler. AS is usually pretty good with stuff like that, especially if they're on the same ticket as you.

Hell, I had travel companion on one trip who had a different ticket. I got her (no AS status) on the upgrade list with me (MVP Gold) and SHE got upgraded and I didn't. ???

That was one of those, "well the computer just does it" things. Love that answer from the airlines. hehe

<i>Passengers ticketed in First Class in either F or A class have access to the Alaska Airlines Board Room included in their ticket (excluding reciprocal agreements with other airline clubrooms). Passengers traveling on an upgraded ticket booked in U class do not have access.</i>

Looks like the companion was also ticketed as F, so we should be good to go. :)

If you're flying back from SEA to LAX in first, depending on time of day you may be able to have some of the actually quite edible vegetarian chili they put out in the SEA Board Room.

FC service on AS transcons is pretty good, actually, and I like the Dig-e-players better than the main screen drek shown on AAnother AAirline of my extreme acquaintance.

Only on transcons and longhaul-ish flights. Free in FC, $5 or $10 in the back.

Is there a F security lane at SEA? I went through the middle checkpoint and didn't see one but didn't check the others (there was very little wait). Just curious.

Waiting in the Board Room now. Chili's supposed to be ready in 5 minutes.

Usually there are elite/FC security lanes at the north and south checkpoints, iffy in the middle (which is the biggest one.) Salud!
