Can I bring vacuum packed meat/chicken meals or closed peanut butter jar in my carry on luggage to Switzerland on Swiss air? Thank you!

No I advise that you do not take a chance doing this. Carry on items aboard flights are getting tougher by the day now.

Carryon items are not getting tougher by the day. The regs haven't changed.

Peanut butter you cannot bring in any jar over 3oz.

Meats as you describe are not a security threat and will be allowed through security and on the plane.

Where are you flaying from? If you're coming from the U.S., no. You won't be able to legally bring meat into Switzerland. (Read as: you "can" do it if you don't get caught). If you're going to eat it enroute, then you can bring it on.

Also, they do sell peanut butter in Switzerland.

Disagree with dbranch03 and agree with J62 - Carry-on items are not getting tougher by the day, if anything it's a little more (but not by much) relaxed.

As far as food is concerned you are dealing with the Security Check (in the US it's the TSA but in other countries it's a different agency) not the actual airline.

You cannot bring more than 3.4OZ of Peanut Butter because it's classified as a "Liquid or gel". Meat/chicken is not a "liquid/gel" so it's OK. That said, some countries like Switzerland have restrictions on bringing meat into the country so it will be confiscated by customs when you land. If the country you are visiting has no restrictions you can carry-on all the meat that will fit in your bag.

So, if flying to Switzerland - you can bring in your carry-on a little peanut butter and only the meat you can consume on board the airplane.

There are two completely separate issues at play here. You cannot carry a jar of peanut butter in your carry-on bag because of TSA regulations. Meats could be confiscated if they are discovered during a gate security check, but they are not against TSA rules, but they are against customs rules in Switzerland.

If you want to eat peanut butter on your flight, there are carry on sizes. Walmart sells them. Or make a sandwich, which is allowed. If you want to eat a homemade sandwich on your flight, then make and bring one. Or you could bring a "Lunchables" type pre-made meal. Just be sure to eat it during the flight.

I agree. Two separate issues. No jar of p'nut butter because it's in the "gel or liquid" category.

You shouldn't bring peanut butter to eat on a plane. Someone might have a peanut allergy, and that cause a severe allergic reaction. Eat something else.

Why are you bringing food to Switzerland? They have good food there, all different kinds, and can accommodate different dietary needs. They even have vacuum packed microwave meals for sale in the grocery stores.
