Flying United LHR-LAS
I haven't flown long haul on an American carrier for some years, I fly everything but!!
However this time, we are going with United, I have flown domestic with most of the US carriers and wanted to ask anyone who has also done long haul with United, how they found it? Thank you |
UA's LHR flights to ORD and IAD are on the 767 or 777, so all seats have personal video screen.
You may want to invest in getting E+ seats with more legroom. $299 will get you and one companion E+ seats for a year. Both international and domestic legs. If there are two of you flying, then LHR-LAS roundtrip are actually 8 segments. Less than $40 for each to get the extra legroom per segment, even if you don't set foot on UA in the next year. |

Sorry me again!! We have V class tickets with UA, Can I still get the E+ access? if so can I get it before I check in?
I fly alot so it would be great for me, I am not seeing anything on the UA website. Thank you!! |

And you got your seats in E+ for all of your flights for both of you? Call United to get seat assignments, if you haven't already. Which Star Alliance FF program will you get credit with for this trip?
There are a couple of booking classes below "V" on United (W,S,T,K,L), so you might check occaisonally for a lower fare. |
LHR-LAS on United? Ghastly. You have to change somewhere with United, so why not change onto a proper airline?
Truly obnoxious staff at both checkin and on the transatlantic flights (in this case LHR-SFO). Not just "we own the airline" attitudes, but downright offensive to those customers who spoke poor English. Inedible food. Overpriced, bad booze. Service on the domestic legs that make Ryanair look like it's a Singapore subsidiary HOWEVER, word obviously got out. Because while the staff and catering was just as awful on the SFO-LHR leg, the flight was three-quarters empty so I moved to the decent legroom seats the idle cow at checkin told me were already occupied. Stick to airlines committed to longhaul (which, by definition, no US-registered airline except Maxjet etc can be) is my motto these days. Even Air Canada was a million times better. And if you can organise it, changing to Air NZ at LAX is best of all. |
Wow. I've actually had good luck with flying United internationally. Because my company requires me to fly a US carrier in and out of the country, I use United all the time (Delta is my other big one). I have been pretty happy with them. My last United flight was to Tokyo - so that was a fairly long flight.....
