Flying to Vietnam through Korea - what happens in Korea?

I guess I should also ask this on the Asia forum - sorry if this is a stupid question -

But if we fly on Korean Air and all of the legs are ticketed together on the same airline will our bags be checked all the way to Hanoi from the first flight? Or will we collect them in Korea and go through customs & re-check for the last leg?

I just flew Korean from Atlanta to Bangkok with a change in Seoul. You will go through security again as soon as you arrive in Seoul. We didn't have to take our shoes off--that's a U.S. thing. The airport at Seoul has free Internet and free showers. That's about it.

BTW, Korean has electrical outlets on the plane--if you can find them. They also have video on demand at all seats--including economy.

wally - did you find the seats comfortable? Have read some don't recline very far. Guess it would depend on which plane you were on - our overseas flights are on Boeing 747-400s.

Free showers = interesting.

I was on the 747 too. The seats were ok. I did my seat assignments on www.delta.com and they were moved on the Atlanta to Seoul flight to bulkhead on both flights to and from Seoul. They have the cleanest bathrooms. The flight attendants were in there cleaning constantly. They had one toilet for women only, but the sign was very small, some people didn't see it. Free toothbrushes in the bathroom--wrapped in plastic.

You may not want the seats going back too far unless you have the bulkhead seats.

Thanks wally. Clean bathrooms - that will be a treat! I was on an Egypt Air flight a while ago that you needed wading boots by the end of the flight to go into the lavs. Ick.

We can't pick seats until closer to our flights - I'll research before then which are considered good ones. I do like the bulkhead but not if people are waiting there for the bathrooms. Have to check seatguru.

BTW, the Atlanta flight flew almost over the North Pole and around North Korea. Be sure to check out the flight path on the tv.

We went over the north pole on our flight to China last year - very cool! (literally haha)
