Flying into Venice.
Which side of the plane should I sit on to get the best view when coming into Marco Polo, Venice?
The bottom.
I sat on the right side for both arrival and departure and saw Venice each way.
I don't really know, but letsgo39 certainly gave me the laugh of the day!
The vast majority of flights landing at Marco Polo Airport approach from the south and the view from the right side of the plane can be magnificent.
Jeff is right and it really gives you a heads up on how the city is laid out. It is also depending on arrive the side the sun is on so its in your eyes after noon or so.
I was just there a month ago and I was on the left. I had a quick view as we circled around but the right is best.
The right side it is, thankyou all so much.
Why should it matter as long as you land safely?

> Why should it matter as long as you land safely?
Actually, it's important for those infrequent cases when the plane crashes and burns on arrival. The people on the right side will at least have had a moment of pleasant viewing before their fiery finale, while those on the left will have perished in boredom. rizzuto |
We need a comprehensive statistical study of survival rate between passengers on the left side of the plane and on the right in crashes.
The only time I flew directly to Venice, it was completely fogged in, and we landed at Vicenza instead! View from the plane (none) was identical on both sides.
Thats why safety is #1!

Did you then block your window seat on the right side ? Try to avoid those on the wing !! |
A really cool way to fly into Venice is to fly a bit slower and lower.
A couple of years ago we flew "Fly Babboo" Airlines from Geneva. What a beautiful trip over the Alps as the Turboprop flies lower. They serve food on board you wouldn't expect, and, if you're lucky, their mascot, Tofu, a black lab will fly along. It was a once in a life time. When's the last time you flew Babboo? |
