Flying from Malaga to EWR with Connection in Lisbon - Covid requirements?

I have a tentative trip in September to Spain. Our return flight has a connection in Lisbon, via TAP (booked with United FF miles). I was just wondering if it will be a normal transfer or do I need to show vaccine and/or negative test upon Lisbon arrival. We are vaccinated (in US) and will do a Covid test before leaving Spain (looking at Abbott’s BinaxNOW™ COVID-19 Ag At-Home Test Kit with telehealth for travel which is acceptable for US entry).

We only have an hour between flights and now I am worried that's too tight. I also want to make sure I have all the correct documentation..

Also has anyone used the Abbott at home test with Navica app?

Just got off the phone with United (30 min hold time) and was told I only need to show my documentation (- test) at my original point of departure (Malaga), and in Lisbon, it should be a routine connection because my reservation will have been screened earlier. The rep also said the antigen test I was looking at, should be fine. I hope she knows what she's talking about. I will also call TAP to confirm with them as well.

What really confused me, is that my reservations was flagged saying I had to fill out a "Destination Entry Form" for Portugal, which didn't make sense since I'm not leaving the airport, and the form required at local address. The rep said that form is not applicable which is what I thought.

My husband is planning on using the same test on his way to Portugal. Curious what your experience was with the Abbott Binaxnow test results for entry into Portugal.

The test worked fine. We just transferred flights in Lisbon, so didn't even exit the airport. The Covid test result was checked at our first airport in Malaga, Spain. Out ricket was booked to the US. There was a Covid check for the Lisbon transfer where we had to sign a form and also show QR code we received from filling out the Portugal destination form the day before. I don't recall having to show our test results at that point (it's a bit of a blur, my husband fell, cut his hand and they had to call the medics, so I was a bit distracted!). but we had everything handy just in case, and the staff was great as we were dealing with a minor accident.

One little hiccup, when we did show the test result form (in Malaga), the date was in American format (m/d/y). The agent looked at it as if it were in Euro format (d/m/y) and thought it had expired. It took some back and forth before we realized that was the issue. Once we pointed that out, all was fine. I didn't bother with the QR code they provide on Navica, I printed the test results at our hotel. There seemed to be some confusion about that. It may have since been cleared up.

If you are unsure of anything, check with your airline and/or Abbott/eMed to confirm that test is accepted in Portugal. It is definitely excepted by the US, and United airlines even promoted it.

Enjoy your trip. Portugal is wonderful!
