Has anyone thoughts on best way to fly, direct or have a stopover we a senior age.

Also comments on flying Royal Bruniea airline sounds good prices , or other airlines to suggest Travelling in Sept 2013

You're looking at a LONG flight no matter what airline you choose.

There are no non-stop flights from SYD to LHR. It's too far.

Virgin Atlantic is probably the quickest with a 24 hour journey BUT you only have a 90 min layover in Hong Kong so I would skip that.

JAL has a flight with an almost 19 hour layover in Tokyo flying to LHR and almost 11 hour layover returning. I would be ok with that because you get an overnight break in a hotel to prepare for the almost 12 hour flight the next day.

If you want to minimize the "pain" of such a long trip, either fly business class or break your journey up into 2-3 segments with long layovers in between.

My mothers 80 and she regularly flies from UK to Australia non stop, usually with Emirates, although on the way to Australia there is an overnight stay included

I'm not particularly impressed by economy on Brunei but I've seen good deals in business class for royal Brunei but I think they may also stop in Dubai on the way to the UK, also seen good prices for Vietnam airlines in biz $3800

If travelling economy I would recommend Korean (good leg room 34 inches), Singapore airlines, Emirates/Qantas

Also think about Premium economy I saw Etihad / Virgin has it $2490 to London

By non stop I assumed you meant without having a layover, as mentioned above all flights need to stop at least once

Many thanks for your replies we are flying Melbourne to London. impressed Geordie about your Mum. if she can do it we should be ok.

Thought if we can get a good deal economy would have more money for travelling around England
