Flights to the USA from Paris or London

Hi. We are going to Costa Rica next February and want to go to San Francisco on the way.
Best flights at the moment are through E bookers flying Delta operated by AIR FRANCE from Paris to LA.
Any comments please !!

what's your question? Los Angeles is about 550 miles from SF so you'd have to drive or take another flight there.

As far as getting to the US, flying from Paris the taxes are less.

The closest way to get to Costa Rica is through East Coast, Atlanta, Miami, or Houston.
You are going way out of your way to go to San Francisco.

If you do decide to go via LA then check Southwest Airlines for reasonable flights to SFO. You will need to look on their website, they are not in the booking engines.
If you check luggage you would need to claim and re-check to go on Southwest.

What counts is the bottom line price. These days, with stricter regulations in the US, the prices stated on Internet travel agencies should include sales taxes and so-called airline surcharges. The fees charged by airports do vary but are already added into the air ticket. Trans-Atlantic, it really doesn't matter very much (although individual US cities, especially the smaller ones, may show more variation.)
I ran a test for mid-October through www.itasoftware.com that showed no more than $50 to $75 using either London or Paris for departure round trip to LA -- and on some airlines almost no difference.

Hi Does anyone think that 879€ is a good price per person - Paris to LA, San Francisco to Costa Rica and then return from Costa Rica to Paris. To me it sounds good, it is with Delta

It's not far above what you would pay in July round trip to San Francisco, without the side excursion. Winter prices have been lower the last couple of years. Remember that you are talking about flying across an entire continent after crossing the Atlantic, so it's going to cost more than landing in New Yori.

Does anyone know how long is recommended between 2 flights at LA International. Between planes there is just 1 hr 20 to change terminals and I don't think that that is enough time. ?
Thanks

We are coming from San Francisco through LA on the way to Costa Rica with Delta the flight is operated by COMPASS DBA DELTA CONNECTION, apparently the layover is just 1 hour 20 which I think is too tight. Thanks

You are correct, that does not seem like enough time.
Be sure that you entire flight to San Francisco is booked on the same ticket. If you are delayed, then the airline will have to get you on the next flight.

How much more were the flights to come directly to San Francisco and not LA?
That would be a much better option for you.

San Francisco is NOWHERE close to being on the way to Costa Rica. It's thousands of miles out of the way.

Irrelevant.

The OP WANTS to visit SF on the way. People often visit more than one destination on a trip.

Sounds like your question about connection in LAX relates to your travel from SFO to Costa Rica. If it is on a single itinerary on Delta (and that includes Delta Connection) then 1 hour 20 minutes connection should be fine. You will have done check in at SFO and will not have to collect and re-check your bags, this will just be a connection along the way.

If I am misunderstanding and your question is about your having 1 hour 20 min to connect from an international arrival to a flight to SFO that is not realistic.

The drive from LAX to San Francisco is not fun. For flights check out southwest.com

Thanks for your message. We have now booked flights with a longer layover, couldn't risk 1 hour 20. Why is the drive not fun ? I have heard that the coast road is wonderful and we have 3 days to do it in.

The coastal route (US 101?) is indeed an excellent and fun drive. Do it!

If you have 3 days it can indeed be fun to do the coastal route. Sorry, I misunderstood and thought you were looking to get to SF ASAP. Enjoy!
