Flight tracking web sites

My DD and SIL are flying at the moment from NZ to Miami, I have been trying to track their flights but can't seem to find a web-site that will track it. It was a Qantas flight so don't know whether that has made a difference. I think they should have just about landed at LAX now.

I am sure I was able to track their Air NZ flight a couple of months ago when they flew back to NZ.

What web-site do you think are the best for doing this?

Thanks. I did try that one but couldn't get it to work. It kept saying my flight information was wrong. Anyway it has landed 90 minutes late. I don't think they will get their connection to Miami at 2.30pm, it is a code share though and leaves from the same terminal, so they is a small chance they could make it.

Anytime you fly into US airport you need to go through customs and immigration at the first arrival airport. Once they are done with that procedure, they will be land side. They will need to drop off their check in luggage outside of the customs exit door, and then proceed to security.

I'm just guessing here but if they are flying Qantas they are probably connecting to AA. If that's the case, they will have to change from TBIT to Term 4. The good news is, the terminals are just a quick few minutes walk.

QF25 arrives at T4. The plane landed at 12:16p, no idea what time it gets to gate (neither qantas.com or flightstats.com have updated actual gate-arrival time).

I think they can probably make it to the AA flight at 2:30p.

The flightaware.com link works fine for me.

Thanks for the replies. I hope they make the connection. They are going to be gigging on a cruise ship leaving Fort Lauderdale tomorrow. DD and SIL didn't book the flghts, they were done by the cruise line, they didn't leave very much leewayfor delays

. Apparently the Qantas flight was full and DD said was delayed because they were rearranging the seating. Not sure what that means. It was the start of school holidays in NZ and Easter weekend as Friday and Monday are both statutory holidays. A big travelling weekend for New Zealanders.

QF website says it arrived at the gate at 12:45

The 2:30 departure AA252 left on time (actually 5min early). The good news if they missed it is that there are two red eyes LAX to MIA tonight, one arriving at 5am and the other at 6:25am.

Hmm if they get one of those those red-eyes they will be in great shape playing on the gig the same night.

QF25 arrives at T4.,

it may be so, but the passengers have to walk through the underground tunnel back to TBIT in order to get through C/I.

rkkwan Apr 9th, 2009 04:23 PM

AAFF - Wow, I didn't know that. So, I guess that applies to AA's international arrival too. Hm...

AAFrequentFlyer Apr 9th, 2009 04:25 PM

AFAICR...... have not been through LAX for some time.

rkkwan Apr 9th, 2009 04:25 PM

But the map on AA's website shows immigration/customs located within T4:

Like I said, it's been some time coming into LAX on int flight, so I won't argue.

My main point was the following:

Once the passengers are done with C/I they are landside, regardless how the system is set up.

Even if the passengers have to go through C/I at TBIT, then it's just a short walk to terminal 4.

Regardless where they get checked by C/I, they still need to go through security.

I believe there were couple of times that we needed to go in the underground tunnels to TBIT because we were the only international flight coming in, so US C/I didn't see a reason of having officers waiting just for us.

Perhaps the other times we were processed in terminal 4. Too many airports, too many flights, etc... :-)

T4 does have immigration facilities. I believe only T3 and one other terminal (can't remember which) does not. I only found out about T3 when arriving on an AS flight earlier this year and we had to be bused to TBIT :(

Just heard from DD they made the connection with 20 minutes to spare.
