First Class Travel: What's the best thing??

Why do we travel first class?? To write off the ticket price as tax deduction?? personal space?? get potential business partners? easy drinks?? comfort all the way??

I think the best part is oxygen. We get three times more oxygen than economy travelers. Isn't that the best perk??

I don't know. I only fly coach. So, let me think why I do that...

- With all the time during the flight, I can think of ways to spend the money I save by not flying first or business? Like which charity I should donate to? ;)

- I am trying to lose weight?

- I am a recovering alcoholic?

- I love to hear babies cry?

- I love to be close to my seatmates?

- The FAs working the back are younger?

- I am a sadist and like to recline my seat to torture the person behind me?

- I am a masochist?

So many reasons to fly coach! ;)

I was in my TA's office last week.He was arranging a woman's ticket DFW to Houston....She said she would cancel the trip if he could not get her upgraded to First Class...an hour trip....Maybe you need to contact her.....

rkkwan Feb 21st, 2007 08:20 AM

That FA should book her on WN, where "everybody is first class!" ;)

They say if you find out how much a first class ticket will cost, purchase a coach ticket, and give the money you saved to the church, you will get a better seat in Heaven.

Still reading the Good Book to find out more about the oxygen situation.

it was funny...the other day i received a promotional email from Virgin or British airways.., advertising a $1000+ ticket from NYC to London. I believe they referred to it as "upper class", where you would have full access to a bar and receive a massage. Even better, they called it a "deal".I fwded that to many others who would find it humorous.

Virgin's business class product is indeed called "Upper Class".

rkkwan Feb 21st, 2007 12:34 PM

Speaking of class, something kind of funny. When my dad takes the Star Ferry in Hong Kong, he still says he's going to go "Third Class", even though there's only Upper Deck and Lower Deck (i.e. two classes) for the past many decades. :)

Hahahaha...it's getting all the more funnier....

Class consciousness: maybe you should give me her number or email id and I'd ring her up and ask by myself, Beachboi:)

Remember Titanic?? They saved the First "Class" passengers and left the others to die!! Or was it just the movie?? I gotta get a good book and read the HISTORICAL WRECKAGES. Straight from airlines to cruiselines!

wally...how about RULING IN HELL THAN SERVING IN HEAVEN;)

People probably choose to fly first or business class for various reasons. I fly domestic first and international business not so much for the amenities but because I'm a plus-sized woman and those extra 2-3 inches in seath width really makes a difference in comfort for myself and my seatmates. I don't like spending 4x what coach passengers are paying, but until they install wider seats (don't give a hoot about pitch, meals, or service!), this is my best option. I was reluctant to travel for a long time worrying about this issue, until I realized I was no longer a starving student and could upgrade to a more comfortable seat. I do enjoy the amenities in the higher classes, but could take or leave everything but the extra width.

I use miles for upgrades but I like more room, I like boarding first & being able to stash the bag & get seated rather than standing in the aisle & hoping to find overhead space.

I'm not claustrophobic but one time I flew in a wide-body & flying alone & got stuck in the middle of one of those long center rows with a kid next to me who stared at me for ages. :-[

Sounds good. You're making the best use of your MONEY, Roundtrip. I wish I earned enuff to travel FIRST class:(

earthhopper Feb 22nd, 2007 11:50 PM

Sorry about that Kid thingy, "Carry""bean", or Caribbean? HOw do ya pronounce your name? Just curious, no offense. I hope you're having better experiences now:)

Carrybean Feb 23rd, 2007 02:57 AM

Carry Bean. The child wouldn't look away, wouldn't smile, just stared & stared & stared. Really an odd experience.

earthhopper Feb 23rd, 2007 05:02 AM

Monkey Business, Carry Bean! Kids can be dangerous!! Imagine what Mr. Bean (the cartoon character) would have done in such a situation. I would have tried to SCARE that kid. Something nightmarish...well, have you heard about a strange case far away in India?? Police arrested a guy who had allegedly eaten up more than 60 kids in a locality called Nithari near New Delhi!!!! all the vicitims are adolescents. He said he likes their brain!!!horrendous!! Recently, a hollywood director visited the house. A movie is on the making!!!
