First Class Boston to London

My wife and I may be flying first class from Boston to London on Delta. They are partnered with Virgin Airlines. Our times are flexible so we are looking for the best experience (my wife has never flown first class). Can you recommend a particular flight and/ or connection?

For one thing, only British Airways offers 1st class from Boston to London. On Virgin or Delta, you get business class (UpperClass on Virgin, DeltaOne on Delta). That said, business class on Virgin (VS) or Delta (VS) is very good indeed: lay-flat seats, decent-but-not-wonderful food, lounge access, and more. International business class is 100 times better than domestic first class.

Delta and VS each have 1 flight to London from Boston: DL leaving around 7pm, VS around 10. DL gets in to London around 7am, VS around 10am.

The better choice depends on a bunch of factors that only you can evaluate. Kery factors are when you want to eat, and especially how much sleep/rest time you want to have. Flying time from Boston to London is about as short as it gets for trans-Atlantic -- around 6 hours or a bit less, with about a half-hour on each end unavailable for sleeping. If you want to have dinner on the plane, you'll lose an hour or two of sleep time.

All other things being equal, I'd go for the later (VS) flight, and have dinner in the lounger before the flight. I haven't been to the Virgin lounge (the Clubhouse) in BOS, but in other airports I've enjoyed my time there a lot.

That's what I thought. . . . I was a little confused by the question. Thanks for confirming it.

DonTopaz gave good advice. The only other thing I might add is to see what aircraft the different flights offer. You can then look at the seats in business class. There are often differences depending on type of aircraft.
