Fiance' should change name on passport?

I'm getting married June 3 and knew well enough to book her airline ticket with her maiden name. While the passport isn't an issue for this trip (staying in the US), it's going to be an issue for the end of July. We are going to the Dominican Republic on a medical missions relief trip. Her ticket for the DR trip is being purchased with her maiden name this week. We don't want to wait until August to start changing her name, but will it be a problem for her driver's license to have her married name, but her passport have her maiden name? She really doesn't want to get a new passport and have it expedited after we get back from the wedding since she would have to wait til then to request the legal name change.

OK, I guess here's the question...If we get back from our honeymoon and start doing all the name changing, will she have a problem using the passport in her maiden name if her airline ticket is with her maiden name, but her driver's license is in her married name. Or can she just skip showing the license and just use her passport as her i.d.? We also have to take official birth certificates for the DR trip, so it will also be in her maiden name.

Please help - we're getting really stressed about this.

She doesn't need a DL to fly on the trip to the Dominican Republic. Don't show it. Use the passport with her maiden name for everything.

Wait until after she comes back to change the passport.

Book all flights with maiden name.

Thanks for the info - exactly what I hoped to hear!

Changing the name is soooo easy. Go to the Post Office. They just stamp inside. It's not a big deal at all.

To have your name changed on your passport now the US Government no longer attaches an amendment to your current passport. You have to have a new passport issued showing your new legal name. The rules changed around sometime spring of 2005 I think.

pg...Go to....travel.state.gov.....If I were to paste the link it would be too long...But there is a section on Passports and name change is clearly detailed. How she will change her name on her passport depends on when her current passport was issued.Bottom line, if her passport was issued more than a year ago, its the renewal process.Good Luck!
