FF Program Match

I'm Platnium on AA. I'm going to start flying CO frequently. I have no miles on CO as when I fly them, I accrue miles with DL or NW. I've recently almost drained by SkyMiles. I have about 90k Wolrd Perk miles. Is it possible to get NW to match my AA status - fly CO and accrue World Perk miles - as well as enjoy the perks of NW status on Continental (mileage bonus, early boarding, emergency row seat selection, etc)?

I assume yes to status match and mileage accrual, but no to perks?

You have to be careful with status matches. In most cases it's a once in the lifetime thing. Chose this option if you absolutely believe that CO/NW will be your primary carrier in the forseable future and not just for 1 flight. Sometime in the future you may actually want NW status and you will have to earn it the hard way if they matched it once before.

That said, status matches are not automatic. You should call NW and find out an address or fax number in order to mail/fax your most recent AA monthly statements. Usually the last 3 months or so. They may require a copy of your status card. Like I said, call.

If they do match your status they will probably match it one tier below. AA Plat is mid-tier, so if NW decides to give you status they will most likely give you their lowest status, or maybe you get lucky, and get mid-tier. I'm not really sure.

Once they do match it, you will be entitled to every perk afforded to anybody else that holds the same status regardless how they got it.

Good luck!

You might be able to get a match by using the link Gardyloo posted, though NW has a reputation for being harder to get than others. Whatever you do, tell them you will be flying NW, once you have the match, it won't matter.

Now a couple of other things:

1) NW and CO have reciprocal perks. Elites receive free, space-available upgrades, priority seating, and early boarding on both carriers. You also earn bonus miles on flights. With DL, you will get bonus miles, priority boarding, and preferred seating, but no upgrades.

2) Regarding the upgrades, even as a Gold (which is the AA Plat equivalent) upgrades are reported to be very hard/impossible to get on CO's more in-demand routes. Forget about getting up front for something like EWR-LAX.

3) Beware the 50% Elite Qualifying Mileage. In NW's program, many CO tickets only earn 50% EQMs. With CO, you can earn 100% EQMs on these flights if you can book via their website. If you use a corporate TA, no luck. Also, with CO, you will only get 50% EQMs for many NW and DL fares.

Good Luck.
