Experiences with UAL

Any opinion on this carrier? Recently we flew them from FRA to ORD and had the unfortunate experience of having a flight crew that was more adversarial than helpful, like it was us vs. them. One fellow was so bad that I asked to speak with the supervisor on board. She was really nice and advised me to report him to UAL customer service. When I emailed them I was asked if I wanted a f/u reply and indicated yes I did. That was 1 mon. ago and still I have yet to receive a reply even though I sent a reminder email 10 days ago. Today I called customer service and couldn't believe the attitude of the guy who answered. Clearly he was more interested in throwing up roadblocks to my issues than in listening to me. I finally had to call again and speak to someone else. Is this typical? What is going on with these guys?

What went wrong on the flight?
What did you not like about the flight crew?
What did that one fellow do that you thought was so bad?
What were you asking about or trying to discuss that the customer service guy didn't seem to be listening to?
What were the issues?

1. The flight itself was Ok
2. Some FA's on this flight were just plain rude. No further expanation needed.
3. The one fellow in particular spoke like a jailer to inmates and at no time had an ID on. When I asked him his name after he spoke rudely to me he turned and left.
4. The customer service guy was disinterested and acted like nothing could be done anyway so why bother him. I called them, as explained, to find out why my email was not answered for 1 month. Comprende ahora amigo?

Hi Jacketwatch, the reason the head f/a told you to report him to customer service is that there isn't much that she can do about him. The best thing to do is to write to their customer svc dept, give the flt # and describe him and where you were seated. You may never hear anything but your letter will go in his file. My buddy is a f/a and this is what she tells people when she knows that there's a lousy flight attendant on board. Because of their seniority system there isn't anything the other flight attendants can do, it takes enough complaints to actually get the management on board to watch the person. United is known for militant flight attendants, and well, they are in bankruptcy. Sorry you had a lousy time.

Thank you Wills: I actually called UA a few days ago and received a letter from them today as a recognition of my complaint. Militant is a good descriptive term. Larry.

We had a recent experience involving connecting flights on United Express and longer flights on United.

United was great. United Express was awful and we will avoid them in the future.
