EUROPE FLIGHT

I plan on flying into Spain this September and am wondering why are some good airlines to fly with?

From where?

From San Diego or LA

On American you'll have to change planes in Miami or JFK New York, on Delta you'll probably have to change planes in Atlanta which can be an aggravating airport to deal with.

I'd rather fly non-stop from LAX to Europe (London, Frankfurt, etc) and then on to Spain -- get the overnight leg out of the way w/o having to break it in the States.

for instance Lufthansa has nonstop to Frankfurt, a 2 hr layover and on to Madrid

BA does non stop LAX to LHR, 1.5 to 2.5 hour connection and on to Madrid

Similar sorts of options to Barcelona

Like Delta to CDG (though I wouldn't -- terrible airport to transfer) to Barcelona

and others

Iberia (AA partner, same company as British Airways) flies nonstop from LAX to Madrid. Reports to the contrary aside, it's a pretty good airline.

Oh -- I didn't know about the Iberia LAX > Madrid non-stop. Good to know.

Good options from Janisj, and info from Gardyloo.

If you can get the nonstop, Lax to Madrid, that would be great, and worth some extra dollars.

I would choose a change in Frankfurt over a change in London or Paris. Frankfurt is a big airport, but well layed out and easy to navigate. It is also very efficient.

Stateside, I would take JFK over Atlanta anytime, and over Miami unless flight schedules were a lot better from Miami. Both are confusing. They do have a few decent places to eat though, so layovers are not completely miserable.
