Ethiopian
Any comments about this airline?
|
Nice colors on the airplane that they park at Washington Dulles. |
I am more interested in the quality of service and punctuality, although I admit they do have pretty planes.
I am flying to Luanda with stop overs in Rome, Addis Ababa and Kinshasa. It takes nearly a week to get there. Could this turn in two weeks quite easily? |
re you actually making stopovers or is that just the routing? If you are heading for Luana TAP is more direct, but if it's a cheapie fare and it's just the 2 flight, changing in Addis, then it's fine. Don't expect luxury but at the same time the crew are pleasant and the 767's are comfortable enough. Take a couple of good novels with you.
Ethiopian is one of Africa's oldest airlines ( highly experienced both in Management and Operations )and they have always provided good cross Africa links. Crew are friendly and efficient. |
It used to be possible to get Ethiopian between London and Frankfurt: they offered a handy flight around 1930, which was as punctual as any flight into LHR could be.
Their FAs also were a relief from BA's nannies and Lufthansa's wannabe stormtroopers. Hardly Singapore, but perfectly OK. |
I am stopping in Addis on the way out and Addis and Rome on the way back.
The fare is much cheaper (like a quarter of the price of TAP or TAAG. BA is even more pricey than these. And with Ethiopian, I get to see a little of Addis and Rome. I have an option to stop in Kinshasa but am not sure whether I will bother as I don't know anyone in DRC and Kinshasa is a bit of a rough town for tourists. |
I would certainly avoid Kinshasa, not a nice place (IMHO) at all.

PS- Do post back about Luanda, would be interested to know what it's like these days.
