Thanks Bondgirl, since posting some time back I took a flight on one of our local airlines PB Air on a 145 and it was fine, sure beat the old turbo prop, very nice flight!

About half the time I fly these things, they ask someone in front to move to the back for weight distribution. This is always unsettling.
I also find the curvature of the floor under the window seats both cramping and another reminder of how small they are. Another thing is that pilots can fly them more, um, sportily (can't think of a better word this morning) -- take sharper turns, steeper banking, etc. And you do feel wind and turbulence more readily in them. |
I flew an ERJ 145 last weeks from EWR to IND on Continental. I was worried as I had never flown a small jet before, as I become easily claustrophobic. However, I loved this plane. Same amount of leg room as 737, etc. It also handles just as well as the larger aircraft.

rkkwan,
Sorry but another stupid question occured to me! When you disembark and wait for the bags that cannot fit onboard are you waiting "outside" or in the jetway?? Flight 2358 is constantly late, been checking it daily for 2 months. I'm just trying to gauge how much time it will take me to make this connection to CO 102. Thanks. |

All ExpressJet flights into EWR use jetways. You'll not be exposed to the elements. You'll be waiting for your GATE-CHECK luggage on the jetway, right outside the plane door. The ground crew will bring the bags from the tarmac onto the jetway. You have over 1.5 hours for this connection. You'll be fine. |
Thanks for the reassurances rkkwan, glad to know I'll not need my umbrella till AMS! That said, this flight is consistently very late. I've kept a log every day since 7/4 and it's late almost every single day. Sometimes later than the CO 70, if not cancelled altogether. Will a 20 mins be enough? And blast it if I don't have time for the duty free shop but I suppose I could make a purchase in flight?

You can walk between any gate at EWR Terminal C in 20 minutes. I really think you're worrying too much. Yes, sometimes planes get delayed a lot - like many flights into and out of EWR this past weekend. But that's nothing you can really do about that when the whole Eastern US is experiencing bad weather.
That's the deal with air travel. You just can't worry too much, or else you'll be all stressed out before even leaving home. I don't know whether you've read my post about flying to the UK for Memorial Day weekend. My flight from DFW-EWR is delayed by about an hour on the ground at DFW, and we were put on hold by air traffic controller over Virginia for another 15 minutes. I still make my 72-minute connection at EWR with about 15 minutes to spare. You have over 1.5 hours for your connection, and there's another flight to AMS after your original. You can't have more security than you already do! |
You must think I'm nuts for all this fretting about a silly connection and I probably am, but thanks for help and re-assurances!
