Economy Plus Section on airlines other than United
 

We've flown Eva Air in their Evergreen section (between economy and business -- larger seats, more leg room). Wonderful for us. United offers Economy Plus, but to their Elite members first and then first available afterwards. We don't fly United enough to be Elite members. So my questions is, do you know of other airlines for international flights (from the US) that offers economy plus type of sections. Thanks for any/all inforamtion.

So, there are two different types of Economy Plus...

The first is true Premium Economy (PE). This is a separate class of service, featuring seats that are quite different from the normal coach seat. In most cases, this will include legrests, extra width, extra legroom, and a less dense cabin (e.g. if coach is 3-3-3, Premium Economy might be 2-4-2). In a lot of cases, they provide extra services, baggage allowances, better food, more miles, etc. I would say that, at least on the better carriers, the experience is somewhat akin to US domestic first class. These sorts of seats are sold as a separate cabin, and usually fetch at least a 50% premium over regular economy.

Carriers that offer true PE on at least some long-haul flights include Air France, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand (note: some planes do not offer extra width), ANA, Alitalia, JAL, Qantas, and SAS. Icelandair's business class would also be roughly comparable to Premium Economy on the above carriers, with a bit extra 'soft product' (lounges, food, etc).

The second type is what is often termed Economy Plus (Y+). Y+ is usually just a coach seat with extra legroom and maybe some extra recline. Usually, these seats can be purchased for a small fee on top of your regular coach ticket. Elites, at least of a certain level, often get them for free.

Carriers that offer Y+ include Delta, United, and KLM. Plenty of other carriers offer 'extra legroom' seats that are comparable, but the above are the main ones that come to mind as offering Y+ on a larger scale.
