Memphis Airport

Hi

My close friend is interested in booking flights with a 35 minute connection time in Memphis TN.

Her original flight is before 8am, which I always think is a safer bet when connecting, but that still seems too tight to me. However, I don't know Memphis at all.

She will be connecting to San Diego, and itasoftware.com has a warning that missing the connection might result in inconvenience.

She wants my advice, but I don't have much to give. I would spend more money, but she says she can't.

Anyway, for anyone that knows Memphis, is this a good or bad idea?

I've only flown into/out of Memphis once, but the airport is fairly compact. Nonetheless, I would risk a 35 minute window, there are not that many flights to San Diego from MEM.

I passed through Memphis airport on Friday and Sunday of this past week. It is a medium sized airport and if you do not have to change airlines you probably would be ok. My flight arrived at 7:42am and my next flight left at 8:30am. My inbound flight landed at the far end of terminal A and my next flight was at the far end of terminal B. I had time for a quick bathroom stop and then walked to my gate. I arrived and they just had started boarding. So, if everything worked perfectly, I would think that your friend should be ok. She will need to walk quickly and be prepared not to stop for anything if time is short.

I had more time on my return leg....(one hour) and again everything worked fine.

I would be sure that the airline she is traveling on approves this connection. Basically check on the airlines website to see if it is listed. If so, then I probably would go ahead and book it....

Thanks for this help. I told her I would try to get some information for her, and this should help her make up her mind.
