duty free store at Cairo Airport

I'm arriving at the Cairo Int. Airport on the BA flight from London. It is scheduled to arrive at 10:50 p.m. Does anyone know if the duty free store is open at that time? The airport website sez that it's "Under Construction." Thanks.

sunshine - If you're trying to bring duty-free goods into Egypt, shouldn't you be buying them in London or on the BA flight? Or are you transitting to somewhere else?

Bob, Egypt is one of those places that have a duty free shop before Immigration. Very convenient actually rather than wrestling with bottles on the plane.

[My first name isn't Bob, however. ]

It's another way for the Egyptian government to get hard currency, I think.

It doesn't appear that you can buy hard liquor in Egypt except at the duty free stores. One can buy 3 bottles within 24 hours of arrival at the duty free stores or 4 at the airport. (The stores are not conveniently located to where I'm staying.)

And no. I'm not that much of a lush -- they are gifts.
