Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 3

This will be my first time traveling alone and I have already started stressing out (only about the airport part). I am flying to India from USA with a layover in Dubai- Terminal 3. I mainly just want to know what will happen once I land in Dubai (please include where I would have to go). Also, I completely dislike escalators and railings due to a bad experience so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Terminal 3 is Emirates' base. If you are continuing to India with them, you probably will stay in a secure area to transfer to the second flight, not going through immigration etc. to actually enter Dubai. There will be plenty of internationl brand-name restaurants, and huge duty-free shopping. The Emirati may not drink but they sure sell lots of alcohol, and it is easier to buy a bottle and carry it aboard the India-bound flight than to pack one in your luggage at home.
At your departure gate your passport will be checked and perhaps your carry-on luggage screened. This is a relatively new terminal and I expect the signs, in English, will be plentiful.
I always look at airport websites because they can be very useful. This one is fairly complicated but the link goes to terminal information. Under Transfers you can find a map of Terminal 3. You might want to print the diagram map to take with you.
As to stairs and escalators, it's hard to know if everything will be on the same floor but airport terminals often are multi-level. You can get in touch with the airline issuing your ticket to verify any of this and ask about your particular problem.

HI -- I do not know your travel dates, and this may be too late, but here goes:
Terminal 3 is new and modern and well-signposted. Yes, it is huge, but I do not get lost there. There are also elevators that are easy to find and easy to use. When you exit the elevator, you can see the people coming down the escalator, and you are still going in the same direction. (I have used elevators in airports that takes you off the 'main road'!)

If you really want to ensure peace of mind, you may consider using Marhaba Services. For $44 they will meet you and escort you to where you need to be. Look at:

They have helped my daughter when she travelled to Dubai for the first time, and they are mostly efficient. If you do use them, just make very sure where you will find the person who will assist you. They tend to stand with a (small) board with your name, but it may be easy to miss. Ask them to meet you at the plane where you disembark.

Hope this helps!
