Don't fly UNITED Airlines...they are pirates

Don't fly UNITED Airlines...they are pirates. UNITED will bend the baggage allowance rules to suit their pirate surcharging passengers $400 for 5 extra pounds in a United allowance 70-pound North America international travel bag.Never mind that Star Alliance Gold status allows 20 kilograms extra!

UNITED ground staff is so poorly trained and incompetent that it takes UNITED 58 minutes to figure out how to book international travel bags through to the destination, BUT, UNITED is quick to demand your credit card and $400 five minutes past the "Cut Off" time for Boarding with the polite words: "You pay $400 NOW, or you will NOT fly".

Fly any other airline: Thai Airways, EVA, Lufthansa, TAP Portugal ALL recognize Star Alliance agreements and ALL provide real service, as opposed to UNITED miserable excuse for 'in-flight service': Pay for lousy 'lunch boxes' on 4 hour flight that do not even have a sandwich inside!

You have already posted this once and received replies that explain well why this happened.

Now please give it a rest.,

And you seem to be clueless about what your Star Alliance Gold benefits are.

THANKS! Robert, we got it: we won't fly with UNITED because we don't want to fly with pirates and we do want sandwiches.

OK I'm confused - is the $400 fee because your suitcase was 5 lbs. over the limit or because you were 5 mins. past the boarding cut off?

P_M Apr 20th, 2014 08:03 AM

Hey, some of my best friend are pirates and I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan so thanks for the tip. :-)

Kathie Apr 20th, 2014 10:18 AM

It would have been an overweight luggage charge. Remember his case weighed 75 lbs!

eliztravels2 Apr 20th, 2014 04:54 PM

I expect they had to take the sandwiches out of the lunch boxes to lessen the load because of the OP's overweight bags.

andrews98682 Apr 20th, 2014 10:17 PM

75 pounds? WTF? Are you packing weights in your suitcase?

NoFlyZone Apr 21st, 2014 04:06 AM

>75 pounds? WTF? Are you packing weights in your suitcase?

Was once asked that by a counter agent except she said 'rocks' instead of weights.

My answer was, "Yes, ma'am."

(Was flying from Wyoming to Florida and had over a hundred pounds of field rocks across two bags. She made me pull out 5 pounds and carry them on.)

Ahoy there matey! I love pirates!

MissGreen Apr 21st, 2014 08:39 PM

I'd love to hear United's version of your story. Would be very different I assume.

Last time I flew, I wondered why the gate agent had a parrot on his shoulder and asked, "Arrrrgh, will ye be gate-checking yer bag?" :-)

jacketwatch Apr 22nd, 2014 06:40 AM

:D.

andrews98682 Apr 22nd, 2014 01:43 PM
