disposable razors and small scissors
I learned here on fodors that I can take disposable razors and tiny scissors in my carry on. My questions is do they need to be displayed in my quart sized bag holding my liquids, or can they be packed inside my carryon? Thanks

You can take nail scissors in flights within the US, probably, but not in Canada (I learned this the hard way).
I'm not sure where you are traveling, so I thought it was worth mentioning. In any event, you don't need to put them in your liquid bag. |
I've never had a problem with disposable razors packed in my carry-on. Small scissors a little more problematic.
According to regulations you're allowed scissors with blades under 4 inches in carry-on luggage. Unfortunately, I have had mine confiscated several times by overzealous TSA personnel. Didn't matter what I said about "regulations permit..." If I ever had the time or inclination to pursue the matter with a supervisor, who knows? But those TSA types tend to get their backs up when questioned and I've never wanted to risk ending up being held up for spite just because I held my ground and some security guy got officious. You can be right and still miss your flight just because they don't like what you say or how you act. |
Just read up on TSA's website and stop guessing:
http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-informat...ibited-items#4 Print it out and show it if you feel like it.... |
I had read the TSA list but just wasn't clear on whether or not I needed to carry them in the liquids bag. On our flights to and from Scotland a few weeks ago I had tiny, tiny scissors for needlework and a disposable razor in my liquids bag. No problems at all. But I'd like to keep that bag from getting any fuller than necessary, so one or two fewer items would be a good thing. Our next international flights are to and from Russia in May, and to Copenhagen and back from NY in Sept. Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated.

Liquid bags by definition are for liquids.

The 1-quart bag is for liquids/gels.
It has nothing to do with other items like razors, scissors, nail clipper, etc. |
My question is answered. Thanks guys.

TSA regulations are of no use in many foreign airports. JNB will take the typical small nail clippers from you.
