DFW One hour layover

I will be flying from SJC (San Jose CA) to DFW (Dallas-Ft. Worth) with a one hour layover to connect to DTW (Detroit) midweek in late July. First flight departs SJC at 6:25 a.m. so likely will be an on-time departure.

I am first class, so will be off the plane right away - is an hour enough time to make this connection at DFW?

Both flights are on American Airlines.

Should be enough time. American has flights out of four (A, B, C, and D) of the five terminals at DFW. Check the monitors when you first enter the terminal off your SJC-DFW flight. If your DFW-DTW flight goes out of another terminal, then look for the SKYLINK signs. It's an elevated train system that makes two stops at every terminal and runs in both directions. The system runs entirely in the secure area, so you won't need to go through security again.

Agree, one hour to connect at DFW should be fine assuming your inbound flight is on time. The Skylink tram takes less than 12 minutes, including wait time, to get between the two furthest terminals.

The good news is that a 1-hr connection at DFW is no problem. The bad news is that you're traveling in late July. Thunderstorms happen, and many is the hour I've waited at DFW while the ramp crews sheltered under cover as lightning flickered around the edge of the airport.

Hopefully if there are thunderstorms that delay the landing, that would mean the departing flight would be going out late, too. I don't care if I am running late to DTW, but don't want to miss my connection at DFW.

And I just looked at the itinerary, and it's actually only a 55-minute layover. Gotta hope for the best.

It sounds like you'll be in and out of DFW in the morning. The unsettled summer weather is usually a bigger issue there in the afternoon.

Actually, with the time difference, I will arrive at noon, depart at 12:55 p.m.
