Delta - Requires Paper Ticket to/from certain destinationa?

I called Delta to check out some midwinter fares to Paris. Although the prices were o.k., I was chagrined to find out that Delta requires a paper ticket (not an e-ticket receipt) for certain destinations, Paris CDG being among them. Wasn't able to get a satisfactory reason. Anyone have comments?

Just a guess but probably because it is an international destination. I'd bet it is a domestic practice only.

xxx,<BR>Good try, but no cigar. I fly to London on ET all the time. Here's my guess, maybe it's the French side that requires a paper ticket? Just guessing.

If you are on a Delta or maybe any other airline &quot;code-share&quot; flight,a paper ticket may be required. For example if you fly out of Atlanta and you are booked on a Dleta flight but it is actually an AirFrance airplane, then you are on a code share flight.Delta has about a dozen or so &quot;partners&quot; where they share their identities in hopes of increasing their market shares.Or for whatever reasons. That is how my TA explained it to me when I travelled last month.<BR>Jason

Jason is right..sometimes the flight is flagged Delta, but it is actually an Air France flight. Delta seems to be a hold out on code share = paper ticket rule.

Right you are. You will sometimes see the same thing if you take a Northwest codeshare but fly on KLM metal.

I prefer a paper ticket whenever I travel outside the US. If you want to switch to another airline you must first go to the airline that holds the E ticket, get a paper ticket issued, and THEN go to the alternate carrier. This can be a real pain if you are in a hurry to catch an alternate flight...I know as I have been in that situation. I will not use e tickets for international destinations.
