Delta flight Rome to JFK

DD and SIL have just finished their 5 month cruise ship gig and are flying from Rome to New York today on Delta Flight 8150. I was checking out Delta's web-site and it seems as they if they want to watch a movie they have to pay for it, is this correct? Are there lots of international airlines that do this? They have only travelled Qantas, and Air New Zealand on international flights and they both have free movies. There is a meal supplied but looks like you have to pay for anything else like snacks and drinks.

did you know that the low cost Ryanair charges 1 euro for the use of toilet ??? I am not kidding !!

Yes almost all major airlines do not charge for movies, snaks, drinks, wines, spirits etc.... but some others do... !!

If they're on Delta 8150, I'd suggest looking at the Alitalia website to see the service, movies, etc. Flight 8150 is a code share operated by Alitalia, not by Delta.

flight AZ610/DL8150 is en-route and on-time.

Thanks I didn't realise it was a code-share I will go check the Alitalia web site. As you have probably worked out this the flight is already in the air so it is me just being curious about the in-flight services.

Yes, Delta charges. Maybe Quantas is making money but American based airlines aren't and "extra" revenue is needed.

I don't think any airline is making much money and I knew some US domestic airlines charge for snacks, drinks etc but didn't realise it happened on international flights also.

Last time I flew Delta Frankfurt to JFK, the movie was free. However that was last August!!
They are now charging???

No, neither Delta nor any major airline is charging for movies between the US and Europe.

That's good, I thought I read on the Delta web-site they were but must have read it wrong. DD and SIL have arrived in New York, but missed their connecting flight to Columbus CMH, but have been put up in a hotel for the night so are happy.

Movies are free on Delta trans-Atlantic flights. Wine and beer too.
