Delta Business Elite or Continental Business First?
I plan on using SkyMiles for a trip to EZE and GIG. I've flown Business Elite many times to Europe and have enjoyed. How does Business Elite compare to Business First
(I think this is what Continental calls their product)? If Delta were to fold between now and my trip and I booked my SkyMiles award on Continental, I assume I would be safe as long as the trip were booked on Continental metal with Continental flight numbers? Thank you. |
CO's BusinessFirst is nicer than DL's Business Elite, from every report I've read. Wider, nicer seats. Better food.
It's unclear if DL folds, if any of the partner will honor the award tickets. They mostly will, but there's no guarantee. Your Skymiles would be worthless anyways, so it's not like you're losing out, in that case. |
What if Continental folds?

Continental is the strongest of the "legacy" airlines, and is actually making money in the 3rd quarter despite the high fuel cost.
If Continental folds, DL & NW won't be around either. So your Skymiles will be worse than worthless then. A more plausible scenario is that CO may pull out of Skyteam and join Star Alliance. Not likely in the future, but no unconceivable. But if you already have CO booked with Skymiles, you'll be okay. [There's been a lot of rumors about CO joining a different alliance. I didn't believe it, but recently Skyteam announced a 2,500 bonus for certain trans-Atlantic travel early next year. One major exception: CO.] |
I noticed on www.seatguru.com that Delta's 767's were 6 across in business and Continental's were 5 across. However, I would pick Delta over Continental if Continental were using a 757 across the pond.

Thanks, I'll shoot for Continental on the first possible day I can book award travel - if no luck, I'll try Delta. I could always do AA as well, but I want to drain all my SkyMiles and be done with Delta. Nothing against Delta by the way. I hope they get things worked and are around for a long time for the sake of all their employees.

The DAL bankruptcy judge heard more arguments today, but is not expected to rule on the company's request to void the pilot union's contract until Monday 28 November.
If the decision comes down against the pilots and they strike, it's over for DAL. M |
Delta's done. The strongest will survive and they're by far the weakest.
They just don't have the money, or time to stick this one out. |
