Delta airlines
We are flying Delta to Europe and have already had problems with their reservations
and price policies. Has anyone flown Delta over the POND. |
You'll find many people here have flown Delta internationally. What sort of problems are you having?

Its no big deal but, when I booked our tickets through Delta's 800 reservation
line I was told if the ticket price goes down I would get a voucher for the difference in price for future travel. I was never told there would be a $200.00 per ticket service charge to get the vouchers! the price only went down $181.00 each so I would lose money if I wanted the vouchers. $400.00 in service charges $362.00 in vouchers! Unbelievable. |
This is just a speculation, but it could be that the new lower fare does NOT allow rollover. If that's the case, the agent is correct in telling you that you need to "change" the ticket to the new one, which requires a fee.
What you should do, is find the fare rules for the new, lower fare. Read through it very carefully, and if at any time you see something like, "No rollovers allowed" then you are out of luck. If you don't find anything like that, then call Delta back and talk to another agent. Every airline has agents that know nothing or very little about fare rules. Sometimes it may take 2-3 calls before you get a knowledgable agent to take care of your request. If rollovers are allowed with the new fare, there is no charge for getting a refund. Again, read the fare rules for the new fare before you start the process. Good luck! |
I believe the service charge always applies when downgrading an international fare on Delta. It's unfortunate that they neglected to tell you this when you made the reservation.

I feel a little better now, Our ticket are now at $950.00 each so I guess I got a good deal. We paid $882.00 per ticket total.
